SPIRIT
I. An animating or vital principle; the immaterial or sentient element of a person.
L’esperit is the Catalan word for ‘the spirit’, a connection to our home in the Catalan Pyrenees.
Founded in 2021, L’esperit del Bikepacking is an organisation devoted to getting more people into bikepacking through our events and trips.
Our organisation was proudly conceived in the hills of Catalunya, an autonomous region located in North-Eastern Spain and one of the world’s great cycling destinations. Stretching from the Mediterranean Sea to the Pyrenees, Catalunya offers unbeatable cycling and a warm culture. The routes for our events have been painstakingly pieced together from scratch by James Hayden.
L’esperit is more than events, we are an organisation for change and empowerment. From day one we have worked to give opportunities to all. Through the early support of Tailfin and the Startline Bursary, we have been able to support 12 people from underrepresented groups to join us at our events. We have also put on Bikepacking Experience Weekends, taking newcomers on trips to boost their comfort and ability in the sport.
